| "Although often seen among overweight
people, Cellulite is not a symptom of obesity. It is not caused by overweight and it won't
go away, no matter how much you diet or exercise. "It
will only respond to a very special type of treatment that can get down to the root cause
of the disorder," says Dr. Hawkins, Ph.D., D.O., D.C., inventor of the Hawkins
slimming system and (Electrokinetic Body Activating) computerized machines. |
|
 |
|
|
| "A firm distinction must be drawn between
obesity and Cellulite," says Dr. Hawkins. "The two problems are commonly
confused and as a result, Cellulite is often incorrectly diagnosed as a simple case of
overweight. The disorder is so common, that about eight out of ten women of all weights
and ages are noticeably affected by it. Cellulite may affect a person whose weight is
below normal, or who registers perfectly normal weight. And of course, it appears in
association with overweight. "Obesity is
essentially the result of excessive deposits of fat (adipose) tissue which can be lost
with the usual treatments prescribed for overweight. When food intake is cut down the body
automatically burns its own reserve of fat for the production of energy and heat. On a
restricted diet fat will come off, but the Cellulite bulges will remain. They do not burn
up like ordinary fat. |

"The word
Cellulite - Pronounced "Cell-u-leet" and originally coined by French beauty
therapists - describes that complex cosmetic disorder which comes about as the result of a
circulation deficiency and slowing down in the drainage of inter-cellular fluid. Finally
resulting in the development of lumpy deposits of flesh and rippling masses of flabbiness
on the thighs, buttocks, knees, arms and other areas. The surface appearance of Cellulite
is not unlike the skin of an orange. "The
disorder is easily recognized by the rippling, lumpy or 'quilted' texture of the skin.
Cellulite masses make the parts of the body on which they form quite heavy and out of
proportion. The upper 'thigh-bulge' - rather like riding breeches - is a typical example.
"Cellulite is often found on women who follow crash diets for weight reduction. And
even though they may lose weight quickly, they are likely to gain it back just as fast. |

| As a result their tissue begins to
lack firmness and elasticity. Skin becomes soft and saggy, muscle tone is poor or
non-existent and veins dilate easily. "Fortunately,
Cellulite can be treated successfully. Outstanding results have been achieved in every
case treated with the Hawkins machine. Each year, more than two million people all over
the world benefit from the Hawkins slimming system and weight reducing machines.
"Cellulite is essentially a tissue transformation. In other words, the original
tissue undergoes a change, until it is no longer the same tissue. Cellulite is caused by a
breakdown of normal cell tissue which transforms it into a gelatinous-like substance
composed of fluid, waste matter and fat particles. |

"The substance is trapped in
lumpy, immovable pockets under the skin. These pockets act like sponges and become further
sodden with fluid and waste matter. "The pockets enlarge and bulge out. This causes a
chemical reaction which irritates the fibres of the connective tissue causing the fibres
to multiply rapidly. "The fibrous tissue grows denser, it becomes hard and
watertight, imprisoning nutritive and waste products, fluid and fat particles - none of
which can be carried away by the blood. "This mass of fibrous tissue provides a
barrier to the normal exchanges between the blood and the cells. The fibrous barrier,
having trapped the lumpy immovable pockets of fluid and waste matter, is the cause of the
Cellulite. |

| "Thus, Cellulite is not merely a roll of
fat. Proper treatment must therefore begin with the breakdown and elimination of the
fibrous barrier, thereby restoring natural function of the affected tissue and correcting
the figure faults. "This, most vital part of the corrective treatment, is effectively
accomplished by the Hawkins machine. The treatment is both pleasant and relaxing. "Once normality has been restored, the Cellulite disorder
improves with remarkable speed and all traces of the condition disappear, "Dr.
Hawkins says.
